Patch Adams
'Patch Adams' is a 1998 comedy-drama film starring Robin Williams and is directed by Tom Shadyac. It is based on the true life story of Hunter 'Patch' Adams who is famous for his unconventional approach to medicine and the book 'Gesundheit : Good health is a laughing matter'. The story begins when Adams attempted to commit suicide due to his father's death. Then he sought psychiatric help and was institutionalized. During this time his dream to become a medical doctor began as he realized that he could forget his own problems by helping others. He then enters Virginia Medical University. he was the oldest freshman. There, he had disagreements with the school's Dean Walcott due to his belief in the importance of personal interactions with the patients and pranks that he made. Then, he developed a friendship with Corin Fisher, another student. After that he had an idea to develop a free medical facility. With the help of Arthur Mendelson, he purchased 105 acres of land to construct future Gesundheit Institution.Together with his friends, he renovated an old,worn out cottage. Corin was interested in Patch's talent and then she falls in love with him. Corin was inspired by Patch and she wanted to help a disturbed patient, Lawrence 'Larry' Silver and got murdered. Patch felt guilty of Corin's death and attempted to suicide. Fortunately,he pulled himself together and continues with his life.
